I just had a photoshoot the other day with the fabulously talented Laura Dark Photography. I'm lucky enough to say that my hair stylist was Acid Poptart Productions because she is a mistress of hair and attitude and my makeup was done by the fun and super sweet Mary Kelley. I had a really, really great time while Audrey and Sarah laughed it up in the next room.

This is the first look that we all did and let me tell you, sitting still for that long was quite torturous. My extensions were a hot mess and Acid kept telling me how bad of condition that my hair was in...which it is. Sarah and I hacked them out of my hair right afterwards because they were itching and I finally got to wash my hair properly.
My skin looked totally amazing and those lashes were epic!

That's the first look in action! Pony boots courtesy of Acid as well. The dress was custom-made for me by Slyx latex and let me just say it looked great, fit me like a glove.

This is the second look we did. Acid was running off somewhere so Mary and Laura managed to finangle me this second look with wardrobe provided by Sisters of the Moon D, though the full outfit doesn't have pics yet, they're sure to be epic and great!
The beaded hairpiece and totally vintage and took like 40 pins to hold in place, my head hurt so much!

My mom gave me Julia Child'sThe Art of Mastering French Cooking for Christmas and I found the most divine recipe for chicken and cream with mushrooms and I cannot wait to start it. I'm so excited for it, I have the recipe bookmarked and everything. I saw it cooked in Julie & Julia and it looked so good I wanted to lick the screen.

I suppose I should start a goal for 2010 and I guess it's to start my novel. So that's what I'll do. Every week try to have at least 10 pages done, that's enough to do over a week I think. Especially with school and work getting in the way of my free time. I also want to shoot more and get my name out there and I know I can't do all that without setting smaller goals, but I figure a small goal is better than no goal.

I also want to get back into shape. I have epic new rollerblades that are just screaming at me for me to use them but it's been so cold and snowy outside I haven't wanted to risk falling quite that much so I guess now's the time to start up using them again, though it's been a minute since I was out with them, especially around in DC. But it's all good.

New work from Laura Dark to be posted tomorrow. Are you all excited?

It's freezing out here in Ohio and it just started to snow. Blahhh so cold!

I went yesterday to shoot with Gas Oven out in Cincinnati and it was pretty fun. I got to wear the most glorious dress by KMKDesigns and it was amazingly lolita, I can't even describe it. I can describe just how cold it was outside as we were walking through Spring Grove Cemetery.

There were some pretty epic mausoleums and grave-markers in that place. I can only begin to imagine just how much it costs someone to afford one of those in this day and age. I think that 10 of us should pitch in to have an amazing mausoleum for our resting places. I mean we'd have to be cremated to fit but I think it'd be cool, huh?

Talk about my shooting with Laura Dark tomorrow!

I woke up today and discovered that my acrylic was gone from my right index finger. No big deal because I can fix that later on.

Headed downstairs for presents and let me say, I have a generous little brother. I already shared the story so I'm going to do a copy paste.
Happy Christmas!

I've shared this story before but you get to hear it again.

My brother and I are the only kids in the family. I'm 20, he's 15. I'm the musician, he's the athlete. My brother plays a wicked goalie and makes amazing layups in basketball, he's really good for his age.

That's him with the ball. The picture was taken the same game that resulted in his shoulder dislocating for the second time in a year.

On Monday, my brother had some extensive shoulder surgery. He'll never be able to play basketball again, he'll have to switch positions as soccer goalie to something on the field despite 5 years of goalie training. Needlessly saying, he was completely devastated and has been on bedrest all week.

Today while we were unwrapping presents, he got up and gave me one, which surprised me because he's been on bedrest for days. It was a copy of Lady GaGa's The Fame Monster that he made my mom take him to the mall for. They waited in line for an hour, despite him being on pain pills, and then she helped him wrap it up for me.

My brother's got the biggest heart in the world.

There are just some customers that should not be allowed to enter stores. They should be forced to shop online due to their lack of etiquette.

Before I get into that, today started off well enough. I met up with Christine and we had another lovely chat session while she double-reinforced my extensions. She added a few blonde pieces for accent but I'm not sure how much I like them. I have some leftover fuchsia dye from when I had pink hair so I might give them some coloration just to add color accents. I quite like that idea.

Slyx had to cancel on me so I won't be able to brag about the sessiness that is my newest shoot acquisition. Tomorrow, perhaps!

Work was hellish, what with the holidays and the evil shoppers. I had a woman ask me today "what is WRONG with you?!" and another woman expected me to hold her shopping. This is not valet shopping! No tip, no service. For real.

I saw irony in the store today, when I was at Safeway with my mom.

A woman picked up a magazine to read while waiting in line and then put it back in the little rack. When she stepped away the magazine fell so she bent down...and put it on top of a display. The title of the magazine was "real simple". I laughed and she turned and gave me a glare but it was okay because my mom was also snickering.

I wore all black today. Well, that's a lie, I had on an Owl City t-shirt, who I am very excited to see next month! I also arranged a few shoots for my trip to New York in January. So far I have Steve Prue confirmed and Aeric Meredith-Goujon, both of which are exciting. I'm also shooting with Sidney Etinne and working on getting Kevin Michael Reed on board with me. Should be a good trip!

I woke up at 6AM this morning. Zui called me about our future trip to Delaware, which isn't a problem to me at all. I figure if my phone has to wake me up, there may as well be someone on the other end instead of just an alarm.

Work woke me up at 9AM to tell me not to come in. Apparently there hasn't been a single customer and I believe it. More than 6" of snow and there's nothing to do but sit here at home and hope the roof doesn't cave in.

I washed my hair with new shampoo yesterday and now my head itches. Maybe I have an allergic reaction to the product or whatever but I feel weird scratching my head all the time, especially with these fake nails. Which are new, by the way. I'm still getting used to these acrylic pieces on my hands.

I'm in my pajamas and something tells me that I won't be getting out of them for the rest of the day. I'm sleepy and cozy in my blankets.

There's days I go back and read about my life and wonder how I got to this point.

I went from being just about the ugliest person in all my schools to a semblance of a somewhat glamorous person so I'm going to take this time to reflect on the differences.

I started to do my hair and makeup and my nails. I walked taller, wore clothes I really liked wearing. I changed as a person. So here's what I'm going to do with my blog. I'm going to blog about what I wear, what I did with hair/makeup per day. I'm giving myself a year to give people strange little tips from my own mind.

I'm no expert, I'm no fashion guru. I have bizarre style but I have my own style in my own way so let's start with today.

I straightened my hair this morning, one of those efforts that just leaves my shoulders in pain and my wrists aching. Not to mention leaving me to nurse several burnt fingers from the plates or the steam on that blasted thing. But I've found that sometimes letting your hair do it's natural thing is just not the best thing in the world to do because, well, sometimes it wants to be too natural. So the battle with the hair iron had to ensue.
For anyone wondering, I use a Remington Wet2Straight, though I discourage from using the thing on wet hair. I'll explain later.

Then comes the agonizing over the closet. I figure my choices are, by this time, somewhat limited to jeans or colorful skinny jeans. Since I'm feeling in a neon mood, I grabbed the loudest pair I have, lime green with checkers, and a sports bra because today is for comfort. I figure I'll wear high-top boots to stop my feet from freezing the best I can so it's time to choose a shirt.

I have an entire laundry basket full of jackets so I'll take one on my way out but standing here and looking through the plethora of t-shirts I have isn't making my life easier. It's become a toss up between the purple Harajuku Lovers and the black Lady GaGa shirt. But in the favor of color, my beloved GaGa must remain on her hanger this morning.

Red Soda high-tops with a dragon embroidered on the sides. So glad I swapped for these, they were a wise investment. I use the same purse for eons at a time so that won't change today, the black Juicy Couture bowling bag is here to stay, though I do have to question the reason I own so many designer bags. Not like the labels mean much to me, anyways, in favor of style.

Well, that's it. I'm dressed to go.

De-genderizing a name

I decided to embark on a journey to de-genderize a name. The name I've decided on is Tom.

When I first went to work at Hot Topic, I introduced myself by my real name, a traditional woman's name. But I told them to call me Tom. While they thought it was weird then, they're used to it now and they even told me that now they think of it as a unisex name like Erin/Aaron.

So I'm going to embark on this journey to de-genderize a name. Strangers asking for my name will be told it's Tom and hopefully, they start to look at it different!

Living life

I really have nothing to say besides that I have nothing to say.
No new shoots
No new happenings
Nothing interesting.

After dying my hair black, I went down to see Christine today. We had some chat time, she micro-linked my extensions back in and I'm brain storming color combinations for my next weave. I have black and blue with one little streak of purple right now.

The pic is my new favorite. Liz took it while I was up in Delaware and it looks so great. I'm so psyched about it, I had an awesome time at our shoot. I can't wait to go back out to DE.

The massive amount of awesome hair is also due to Christine. She custom-makes these hairpieces of hair wound around brushes, chopsticks, whatever you want and then you can insert them into any do for an instant spike and spice of the amazing. Send her $20 and a pair of chopsticks and she'll make you anything you like!
For her contact information, get hold of me.

Black hair

I dyed my hair black yesterday, deciding to go back to my normal color after turning the bathtub into a kid's aquarium more than once a month. I spend about $20 per month on my bleach and blue hair color and then about 3 hours bleaching and dying and then 4 hours cleaning the clothes and bathtub that I ruined. Ugh. No more, no more.
Back to the natural black and it'll stay that way for a long time. Pics to come!

Kayleight and I ended up heading to Delaware to shoot with L B PHOTOS and we had a damn blast. Well the shoot was a blast. Liz does epic makeup and Kayleigh does epic hair so it was well worth it to head up there.
It was a fun shoot for the bigger part, though the drive up there was hell. Had to go through U of DE and it was crowded as fuck, stupid campuses. I can't say that my school is any better but it's somehow more infuriating when it's not your own campus.

Welcome

So I gotta go find a new layout...
